This division deals with trees and woodland related issues at the interface between the rural and the development environment.
Trees and woodland form a vital part of the wider environment. Whatever your requirements we give advice on funding and provide cost effective solutions.
Landscaping
Using our expertise in the trees, shrubs and more general components of the rural landscape of lowland England, we are engaged in managing development projects, where we perform the landscaping function:-
Our instructions include:-
- Visual and landscape impact assessment
- Visual mitigation strategy for agreement with the LPA
- Landscaping prescriptions, including screening, shielding and safety
- Landscape implementation and management
Environmental Land Use
As the pressure on the rural environment from development activity increases, trees, woodland and associated habitats are seen as an incredibly important element, particularly in relation to landscape character and biodiversity.
Our role on projects of this nature would be to:
- Evaluate the environmental resource from a practical perspective
- Prepare detailed landscape appraisals for development and planning purposes
- Agree strategic environmental mitigation schemes with the Local Planning Authority and other statutory agencies
- Prepare detailed tree, woodland and associated habitat management plans to inform planning decisions
- Specify, instruct and supervise implementation
- Monitor and evaluate implementation of agreed schemes
Within this field we have a strong and diverse client base among developers, environmental consultants, planners, mineral companies and land agents, providing them with pragmatic and practical solutions to problems. The majority of our work is as a result of client recommendations. Our reputation sustains our business.
We work countrywide for several of our national clients but are strongly focussed within our core region; now encompassed within the Midlands Growth Areas.
Minerals Planning and Restoration
Within the context of our wider landscaping and environmental work we advise extensively on landscaping and environmental issues for quarries and minerals sites. In particular, we advise on landscape and habitat management in relation to planning applications, restoration and aftercare schemes.
Specifically we will:-
- Evaluate landscape resources, threats and opportunities
- Prepare detailed landscape & habitat management plans
- Specify restoration and aftercare in agreement with the Minerals Planning Authority and statutory agencies
- Arrange soil testing and amelioration strategies
- Prepare budgets
- Source and secure external funding
- Prepare detailed implementation specifications
